أدى انهيار مبنى من أربعة طوابق في مدينة مرسيليا الساحلية بجنوب فرنسا إلى جرح خمسة أشخاص على الأقل، لكن حريقًا يعرقل جهود عمال الإنقاذ في بحثهم عن ضحايا محتملين آخرين.
وقال رئيس بلدية المدينة، بينوا بايان، للصحافيين إن انهيار المبنى في منطقة لا بلين بوسط مرسيليا حدث حوالى الساعة 12,40 ليلا ( 10.40 ليلا) مما ألحق أضرارا بأجزاء من المبنيين المحيطين.
وأضاف: “اندلع حريق في أنقاض (المبنى) منعنا من إرسال كلاب وفرق للبحث عن ضحايا محتملين تحت الأنقاض”.
وتحدث بايان عن خمسة جرحى تم إجلاؤهم من مبنيين مجاورين تضررا من الانهيار.
وأغلقت الشوارع المحيطة بالمبنى التي يغطيها الغبار ويتمركز فيها عدد من فرق الإغاثة، على حد قول مصور من وكالة فرانس برس.
وصرح مسؤول الشرطة في المنطقة كريستوف ميرماند لفرانس برس أن هناك “شكوكا كبيرة” بأن انفجارا تسبب في انهيار المبنى وقد يكون نجم عن تسرب للغاز، لكنه أكد أنه “يجب أن نبقى حذرين جدا بشأن الأسباب في هذه المرحلة”.
وقال مسؤولون إنه تم فتح تحقيق لمعرفة سبب الانهيار.
